BODMIN Beer Festival
Friday 19 and Saturday 20
February 2010
|
Introduction - Bodmin
Beer Festival |
Following the enormous success of the Bodmin Beer Festival in previous years, we are returning again by public demand to the Bodmin Public Rooms. Note the dates in your diaries: Friday 19 Feb-Sat 20 Feb 2010. Opening times: 1800-2300 Friday, 1100-2300 Saturday. Planning is proceeding apace; there will be approaching 40 beers there, with entertainment, souvenir glasses and clothing.
Entertainment of the 'live' variety will again be provided in the hall, on the Friday evening and during most of Saturday - details below. Hot and cold food will also be available, and free soft drinks for drivers. Alternatively, to help festival-goers get around the driving problem, we also give below a guide to the area's Public Transport services.
Location: Public Rooms, Mount Folly (centre
of Bodmin, next to Shire Hall and opposite council offices)
Opening Times: 1800-2300 Friday, 1100-2300 Saturday (or when the beer runs out, if earlier!). No admission after
22.30.
Admission: £1.50 (free to CAMRA members) PLUS £2.00
for a limited edition souvenir glass - this year celebrating once more Bodmin's now-legendary
Beast!.
Additional festival pint glasses (oversized, lined): £2.00
each
Free entry to all who bring a current festival glass on subsequent
visits.
It's not possible to give details of all the actual beers (things can change up to delivery day!), but being able to display 40 or so, we intend mainly to try to provide something a little different from the ones normally available in the pubs. We want to ensure the local brewers are represented, and we hope they will have something suitably seasonal to offer. We hope to have milds, stouts and porters representing the dark end of the beer spectrum, as well as session bitters, best bitters and strong ales as well as a couple of real ciders and a perry.
Entertainment is planned for the festival; details are being finalised but acts will be of a 'local' flavour. Known about so far are the following:
| Fri 19 Feb | 20.00 - 23.00 | Cornish Wurzels | |
| Sat 20 Feb | 13.00 - 14.00 | Keltz | |
| 14.30 - 15.30 | (to be announced) | ||
| 16.30 - 18.30 | No Strings | Music from the '60s to the '90s | |
| 20.00 - 2300 | Bar Stars |
Public transport to Bodmin is either by rail to Bodmin Parkway, changing there to the X55 bus at mostly 40 mins past the hour or wholly by service bus. Western Greyhound operate most services to Bodmin from Padstow, Wadebridge, Liskeard, Newquay or St. Austell. Note, though, that only the number 555 service between Padstow and Bodmin Parkway runs until mid-evening, so be careful! See the Western Greyhound website for bus times for the day you want to travel. Train times can be found on the National Rail website.
